Calling all preggos: Non-alcoholic mulled wine!

With a second UK lockdown looming, I have turned to Christmas as a cheer up tactic. Only, one minor festive setback, I am with child (much like the virgin Mary was around this time many moons ago, the major difference between us being they would have just called me Mary.) And Christmas without something mulled is not, quite frankly, Christmas at all.

Well, it is, but I want mulled wine.

To remedy the situation, I have done some googling, and have discovered a non-alcoholic mulled wine recipe that looks fantastic, and can be done in the slow cooker (I think?), saving me money on Christmas candles - although those will be coming out soon too, I fear. The Christmas music has already started - as well as offering a near constant hot supply of vino.

The recipe - completely lifted from BBC Good Food so please do not credit me - is as follows:

Ingredients: 500ml pomegranate juice. 25g golden caster sugar. A handful of frozen blackberries. 250ml apple juice. 1 cinnamon stick. 1 star anise. 4 cloves. 3 black peppercorns. 1 orange, quartered.

Method: Put everything into the slow cooker on low for 1.5-2 hours, stirring occasionally. Strain and serve. Turn slow cooker to ‘warm,’ if you have that setting.

I haven’t tried this yet, but plan to add all of these ingredients to the weekly ASDA order, should I be lucky enough to get a slot.
